Dear reader:

The Palm Springs Post is kicking off our summer fundraising campaign to raise support for our independent journalism β€” always free to read, always 100% Palm Springs.

Unlike other news outlets, where Palm Springs might be a footnote, our focus is always solely on our community. We can’t think of a better example of what we mean than what we all just experienced. After the deadly explosion at a Palm Springs fertility clinic on May 17, we were not only the first local media on the scene, but we made sure to provide real time updates focused on the facts. We then pivoted to focus on the needs of our neighbors, including their emotional needs.

Unlike most other media, we purposely chose not to dignify the perpetrator’s ideology or turn an act of violence into a personal profile on him. Instead, we focused on hearing from residents and local business owners about the impacts and aftermath of the explosion on their lives. Some of our readers disagreed, but we are standing by our ethical guidelines.

Today, as we face the slower summer months, we need your support to continue providing the high-quality news that Palm Springs residents rely on to stay informed. Our news will never be behind a paywall. But we rely on our readers to give when they can to keep our news free and accessible for everyone.

If you haven’t yet, will you consider signing up as a monthly donor to The Post and supporting local journalism in your community?
