Happy Monday, everyone. If you're like us, you probably spent a portion of your weekend getting to know your ballot for the Nov. 5 General Election. Also, like us, you're likely a bit confused by some of the things you see. To help you sort through all the ballot measures and races, the folks over at Cal Matters have put together a very handy 2024 Ballot Guide. Using it is simple: Just enter your address and you'll see some (but not all) of what's on your ballot, and also links to any analysis or other reporting they've done. Have fun!

AND FINALLY ...

You don't have to be a skateboarder to do some shredding in Palm Springs this week, as the city is gearing up to accept and dispose of your sensitive documents safely and securely.

Driving the news: Residents can bring their documents to the Convention Center parking lot — located at 277 North Avenida Cabelleros — on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. The city will then shred them and dispose of them for free.

  • Acceptable documents include, but are not limited to, legal paperwork, medical records, bank statements, payroll records, and contracts. There is no need to remove any clips, staples, or envelopes.

  • E-waste and bulky items will also be accepted, but hazardous waste such as swimming pool chemicals, paints, pesticides, or fluorescent bulbs will not be accepted.

But wait: Can't make it to the event on Saturday? The city will be doing some "pre-shredding" Tuesday through Thursday at City Hall — 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way — between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
